i dont type much and i must have overlooked the intro thread so ill start with a joke.
a witness walks into a biker bar and proclaims that the owner of the demonic bike painted with skulls is has pissed god off.
that is about where the story ends.
Welcome! You're not alone in your thinking...hope to see you around

here is an email that my grandmother sent me yesterday.. .
shawn, it's very difficult & sad to come to this decision, but because of your attitude towards the truth & us personally (thinking that we are stupid) we're going to treat you as a disfellowshipped person from now on.
actually, you're worse than them because usually they know they have not kept their oath to jehovah & don't speak abusively of the organization and don't turn apostate.
This is horrible news....can't beleive that they'd try to use inheritance to get you back in the "truth"...what a cult!!!
I also guess because of the recent KM's ect that are encouraging more & more people to give away their stuff to the borg...such a pity.
Hang in there Elder S!

where you're an ex-jw or still a jw, if you live in miami, florida (broward/palm beach county is cool too), i want to hear your story.
i've already given mine, but i'll tell it again just for the purpose of this thread.. i was researching masturbation because of the fact that the wt makes it out to be such a bad thing despite admitting that it isn't even mentioned in the bible.
along with that, i was researching "porneia" in general, and then i discovered this site.
I use to be in Broward county and had our assemblies/conventions in WPB...I no longer live in south FL, but still have friends there...JW's and "wordly" people...

so i was just thinking...since many of us became aware of the real truth about the wtbs, many have also questioned the existence of a god, the truthfulness of the bible/holy books and the many practices associated with religion/christianity.... .
some have started to celebrate birthdays, christmas ect after leaving the borg...for those out there, i have a question regarding marriage:.
1. do you still think that marriage is important?

1. Do you still think that marriage is important? I've noticed many folks are no longer getting married, but living together, have kids and seem to be just as happy as those who became married.
2. In the Bible, pre-maritial sex is looked down on...but for those who are free of the borg/religion, what are your current views on premartial sex?
Thanks,
Kool Jo
i joined the site a few months ago, made a big splash then kind of dissapeared for a while.
i would like to thank those who i came into contact with and let me into their lives and hearts.
if anyone worried about me during my absence at all then i apologize; i have not regressed or been kidnapped/re-brainwashed by the borg.
Welcome back!
why did you become a jehovah's witness ?.
initially upon entering the religion what were the positive things you experienced ?.
how did that particular way of thinking both benefit and harm you ?.
I had no choice...my parents were extreme JW's....I wish they'd come to their senses though....
It was like a bad dream.....not much time to do homework, watch cartoons, do much fun stuff...why bother enjoy your childhood when the big "A" could be here any second now!?!?!?!
Personally, seeing your classmates/teachers can make you a target for ridicule when you went back to school the following days...
Looking forward to hearing other experiences!
Peace

i was just thinking about how often i prayed when i was going downhill.. now i subscribed wholeheartedly to the 'don't pray for bullshit requests' concept, so at first i rarely prayed.. starting around middle school, 9/10 i prayed for friends.
didn't really pray to stop the teasing, my fists did some of that and besides...racism isn't/wasn't jehovah's fault anyway and i can't pray for that to end when he allowed the witnesses to suffer in ww2.. through high school, same issue and then when i started pioneering and hanging out with some of the other witnesses, those prayers prayers for friends intensified cuz they were asses.. but they were dominated by the prayers to love god starting around 15. i didn't want to read the magazines, despite how much i love reading.
didn't want to stdy the lessons, didn't want to plan my presentations, though i did enjoy giving the talks and crafting them.
What is this poster talking about?!?!?!?!
Prayer does work...let me give two (2) real life personal experience...then perhaps your attitude will change!
1. I use to pray that noboby would come to the doors when I was out in FS...and guess what...it worked, finished an entire set of apartment buildings in no time because nobody was home.
2. As a part of my "fade" I always thought it would be good to move away from home...so I prayed that I get a job where I'd either travel a lot or be moved away from home...so I prayed....and guess what??? I'm miles away from home wih a job that requires traveling!!! So much for a job that would allow me to put "spiritual things" first...
But on a more serious note, I understand what you're experiencing....when the truth about the "WTBS" really soaked in, it was like starting all over again to questions we all ask...so I prayed that the real truth about life, God ect be made known to me...but nothing happened...

memories!
i remember a few years back being involved in the campaign work, and having the distinctly awkward experience of having to hand the householders this piece of sh1t tract "the end of false religion is near!"..
i recall the discomfort i had trying to get into a conversation about this nonsense.
Oh I do remember this!!! Well for me, I simply left them under the door or stick them in an area where the householder could see it...but in the rare event you saw someone outside it was a 5 second presentation just stating this was their personal copy blah blah blah....many brothers speculated that this would be the "last convention" before the end came...ofcourse....every convention/assembly is the "best it's ever been" and the "last one"...that tract was very disturbing to leave...I'm sure most householders just tossed them away after seeing the title...
